Case Study firm’s post-and-beam home lists for $2.2 million in Pasadena

A two-story glass and wood pavilion, designed in 1957 by Case Study architecture firm Buff, Straub and Hensman and restored, has hit the market in Pasadena’s Poppy Peak Historic District.

The asking price is $2.125 million.

Within 1,885 square feet of the early post and beam structure, known as the Thomson Residence after its original owner, are four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a main living area with towering walls of glass.

The translucent walls bring the wooded surroundings into the dining and living spaces that form the great room, with its brick fireplace. Nearby, the kitchen boasts Formica counters and a breakfast bar with modern appliances.
