Paul R. Williams | Blazing Trails and Breaking Molds
Join DPP for a recorded webinar on the impact of prolific LA architect, Paul R. Williams and his lasting legacy. As part of the California Preservation Foundation’s ongoing five-part series, “Modernist II: Design Masters and Methods,” this chapter explores themes on preservation, documentation, and race.
Williams is remembered not only for his contributions to modern LA architecture and his historic (posthumous) FAIA appointment but also for his broader philosophy of architecture which emphasized equality and the appeal of urban living.
The online event is hosted by architect Ravi GuneWardena who offers a first-hand look at the restoration of Williams’ personal residence. Photographer, Janna Ireland who has spent the last five years recording Williams’ work around the greater LA area; and historian Stephen Gee finishes off this round table as the author of a volume on Williams’ life and work.
This virtual event is free and open to the public once registered.
